Brooklyn, NY – The Polish and Slavic Center (PSC) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $40,000 grant for 2025 from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA). The funding was provided through NYSCA’s Support for Organizations program and will help sustain and expand the Center’s cultural and artistic programming throughout the year.
The grant will help cover artists’ honoraria, operational expenses, and staff salaries associated with coordinating PSC’s cultural initiatives, enabling the organization to further broaden its programming and reach audiences across the local community.
Founded with the mission of preserving and promoting cultural heritage, the Polish and Slavic Center has grown into a major cultural hub in northern Brooklyn. In 2025, PSC will continue to expand its programming with a dynamic schedule that includes concerts, exhibitions, theatrical performances, and arts education initiatives for children.
“This support from the New York State Council on the Arts is extremely meaningful for our community,” said Agnieszka Granatowska, Executive Director of the Polish and Slavic Center. “It allows us to strengthen programs that celebrate our cultural heritage while also welcoming diverse audiences from across New York City.”
In 2025, the NYSCA grant will support PSC’s weekly “Little Picasso” art classes, which encourage children to explore painting, drawing, and creative expression. The Center is also developing immersive educational programs introducing young participants to Slavic cultural traditions.
PSC will further enhance its calendar of concerts and cultural events, presenting a wide range of musical styles—including jazz, blues, metal, hip-hop, and traditional Polish music—designed to attract audiences of different ages and backgrounds.
The Center also remains committed to cultural programming for older adults, offering opportunities for social gatherings, dancing, and intergenerational engagement. PSC looks forward to continuing to host performances by local choirs, theater ensembles, and artists, while strengthening partnerships with cultural institutions to bring acclaimed musicians, actors, and writers from Europe to audiences in New York.
